The cover letter's function is to ask for an interview. Then it's up to the employer to decide if they want to read your resume to learn more about you.
Cover letters are generally written in such a way that they are short and to the point. Creating a perfect cover letter is not hard when you follow these simple tips.
- The cover letter should begin with a basic greeting and the position that you are applying for. It should be nor more than 2 lines long.
- Address someone in specific. Never address your cover letter with "To whom it may Concern" or "Dear Sir/Madame"
- The cover letter's sole purpose is to get the employer to look at the resume. In most cases, it is just as important as the resume. Therefore, if it is written badly, the resume might not get a chance to be looked at.
- The second paragraph should be a brief description of your qualifications and why you applied to work for them.
- The closing should announce an interest in hearing from them soon, and a thank you for their time.
